If we had to build a humanoid robot, we would probably assemble a physical body, i.e. a machine with hands, feet, internal organs, heart, liver, brain, etc.
However, it is clear that every robot built from hardware also needs software that contains operating functions, information processing functions, memory retrieval and storage functions, repair functions, etc. We call this software today, artificial intelligence.
Humans are also made up of hardware and software, or as we call it body and mind.
The body cannot function without the mind and the mind is not expressed without the body.
Faults can appear in hardware or software, i.e. in body or mind. When a software glitch can cause a hardware glitch and vice versa.
Just as it is difficult to fix a malfunction caused by a computer virus by adding hardware (keyboard, hard drive or screen), so it is difficult to fix a physical disorder whose source is mental, by providing chemical treatments.
For example: A person who has experienced grief over the loss of a loved one has an increased chance of developing an illness such as a heart attack or a chronic illness during the period of grief.
Treating a heart attack will save that person’s life but will not improve the mental state and will not lower the risk of developing other physical illnesses that are increased by the mental grief.
Similarly, a person who has suffered physical damage and has become limited , is at high risk of developing depression. Treating depression will not cure the basic physical damage.
At QRUF we focus on integrated body and mind therapy.
